Since I have a history of miscommunication, I realized that the above
path is not quite correct, and I should try to explain better.
I would say you should do a 'svn mv debian build.d/dist/debian/debs' (in
the trunk). I was planning to put the gentoo portage tree overlay in
'build.d/dist/gentoo/ebuilds', which I hope gives a better context.
In a similar vein, I would suggest eventually moving all of the .spec.in
files into a similar 'redhat' dist tree, which could be copied into
place during a bootstrap (but on that platform only).
Incidentally, this out-of-package packaging suggests the need to tell
users (in the READMEs or whatever) where to find the official packages,
so they do not waste the time re-creating them from scratch. Still, I
think this is an overall win for the cleanliness of the system.
