I see no problem, in commiting the code. If you are planning to hang
around for long, maybe we can consider an svn account. Otherwise, just
post your changes with a patch.
I would say, branch the trunk and make a branch into "branches". When
parts of the code are ready, we can merge the differences with the
trunk.
